Brian passed away quietly on the 17/02/07. Brian was enthusiastic about the Danae association and was one of the first to start looking for members. He attended the inaugural meeting at the Royal Fleet Club Devonport in April 2003 but because of his wife Cathy’s poor health (now sadly deceased) and an ongoing leg injury of his own he was unable to attend the later reunions in Chesterfield.
He will be sadly missed by Shipmates and family alike. May he find fair winds and calm seas and a safe anchorage. RIP
Brians naval career is sketchy but it is believed Brian joined about 1962. It is known that he was In Mauritius 64/65 where he married Cath. It is likely he would have returned to Collingwood from where he would have been drafted to Danae in 1967.
He left the Navy in or around 1972 and joined Imperial Office Machines in Plymouth. For a short period of time Cath and Brian ran a guest house. Brian left Imperial and worked for the GPO installing telephones, but this didn’t last long before he left and joined the Prison Service.
Brian eventually retired from the Prison Service as a Dog Handler
