When I first started this website it was a hobby which although time consuming I was prepared to undertake. At the Instigation of Brian Newsham and Flo Ford I also undertook to maintain a database of all Danaes’ who served during the first commission ( October 1967 until March 1970).
A consensus of opinion taken during our first get together at the Royal Fleet Club Devonport in April of 2003 was that we keep the association first commission orientated .
During my searches for former shipmates I have been approached and asked why I had not opened up the association to all commissions, The answer can be summed up in one word ‘Workload’.
I am pleased that someone else has taken up the cry and done something about it in the form of Ray Lester ex POMEM (Danae 1980). Ray has now set up an alternative website that incorporates all commissions. I can only admire him as what he has taken on is no small undertaking.
